About the Artist:

Hermann Dyck was a German painter, draughtsman and etcher.

In Munich, Hermann Dyck devoted himself to architectural painting, which he knew how to lend a special charm through cultural-historical staffage. His association with the Fliegende Blätter, which began appearing in 1844, brought a remarkable satirical talent to maturity in him. In 1854, he took over the management of the drawing school for artisans, a position he held until the institution was elevated to a state institution in 1868.

Hermann Dyck died in March 1874.
