Biography

Christian Nepo (1941-2016) was a French painter known for his Impressionist-inspired landscapes, particularly his marine scenes and beach views along the Normandy and Brittany coasts. Born in Courrières, Pas-de-Calais, France, Nepo developed a passion for plein air painting, capturing the transient effects of light and atmosphere characteristic of Impressionism. Nepo’s artistic lineage can be traced back to his great-grandfather, Ivan Shishkin, a famous Russian painter whose works are held at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. This heritage influenced Nepo’s vocation for landscape painting, as evidenced by his frequent depictions of seascapes and coastal life.
