About the Artist:
Carl Duxa was an Austrian painter. He was a student of the Vienna Academy from 1888 to 1895 under the direction of Josef Mathias Trenkwald (1824-1897). In the late 1890s he spent some time in Holland and northwestern Germany, including Emden. From 1905 he was a member of the Vienna artists’ house and a member of the artists’ association “Alte Welt”. In 1912 he received the Dumba Prize from the Viennese Artists’ Cooperative. His subjects, often tinged with Newspeak, evolve mainly in the circles of peasant and petty-bourgeois family life.
