Alfred A. Brunel De Neuville was born in Paris and specialised in still life paintings and paintings of animals, especially cats. He exhibited at the Societe des Artistes Francais from 1879 and was elected a member in 1907.
The artist is known for realistic scene painting of cats playing. Brunel de Neuville also painted a number of still life paintings during his lifetime. These works are often rustic in feeling and definitely reflect the Realist tradition that was so prevalent during the late 19th century. Brunel de Neuville died in 1941 and is buried in Montmartre Cemetery in Paris. His works can be seen in museums at Béziers, Brest, Chateau Thierry, and Louviers.
