Hermann Koch, a German painter, was born as the son of the architect Friedrich Koch. He studied sculpturing at the oldest German speaking region Art School in Nuremberg School of Art from 1875 to 1877. From 1877 to 1882 Hermann Koch studied painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts with Ludwig von Lofftz and Wilhelm von Lindensch, the younger one. Koch was a member of the Munich artists' cooperative and lived until his death in Munich.
